A flower-chasing trip to Yunnan has been long planned. I must go and have a look at the fresh-cut flower bases, the mountains covered with hydrangeas and the amazing green belts.

Walking along the way, stopping from time to time, I met so many different kinds of flowers. I’d like to share the flowers, people and scenes along this journey with you who also love chasing flowers.

The Impressive Green Belt
The first stop was Xichang, a place I’ve visited many times. Although the destination was Yunnan and I didn’t plan to stay long here, I was still amazed by the “amazing” green belt along the roadside. The ‘Juice Balcony’ and begonias in the flower boxes were in full bloom, and the pentas along the highway formed a colorful carpet… Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to take pictures of these fleeting scenes out of the car window.
The only thing I managed to capture was a large cluster of blue snowflakes I came across on my way to breakfast. In the soft morning light, the pale blue flower cluster leaned against an unopened auto repair shop on one side and was adjacent to a road with increasing traffic on the other. Getting closer for a closer look, I found that this cluster of blue snowflakes was over ten meters long!

In fact, there are quite a few stunning green belts along the way. Even the most ordinary rose-red bougainvillea, the bright red ‘Crimson Sunset’ rose and geraniums, when blooming profusely by the busy roadside, can’t help but make people exclaim: These flowers are really great.

(2) The “Careful flower Thought” of Households by the Roadside
When passing through Yanyuan, apart from the vast apple orchards and the charming apple-shaped street lamps, the flowers at the doorsteps of local houses are particularly eye-catching. During this season, dahlias and roses are the absolute stars, blooming in large clusters, big and bright, in red, yellow, purple and pink, without any restraint!

(3) The Host’s Garden Obsession of the Homestay
The climate along the way was pleasant and the scenery was picturesque. There were also many homestays and restaurants. I stopped randomly a few times near Lugu Lake and entered two homestays, both of which amazed me.

(4) The Explosive Flower Scene in the Base
The mountain flowers in the south offer a year-round spectacle, and there are never enough photos to capture all the beauty around the peaks. This season, the hydrangeas are in their prime, and from a distance, they form a sea of white flowers of varying shades.

We also visited several large gardens: the Catmi Garden in Dali, the Mengcheng Garden in Kunming, and the garden that Sister Sha Sha and Little Lei are building in Lijiang.

Seven days, over 2,000 kilometers of trekking, the camera filled with images of flowers. I thought I was chasing after the flowers, but in fact, it was the time illuminated by the blossoms. The cheerful laughter of companions, the warmth of strangers sharing their flower-growing experiences, the beautiful scenes meticulously crafted by garden owners… These are the true springs that nourish the soul.
